Brida is a beautifully written novel by a Brazilian Novelist Paulo Coelho, who has been a well known novelist around the world for decades. He has written many books, and he writes them in a simple style, containing mostly the universal truths and spiritual talks which are always too human and perhaps this is the reason people love reading his books. Brida is the name of a novel, as well as the name of the girl in it upon whom this novel is based.
A story of an Irish girl
This is a story of an Irish girl who is 21 years old, and her longing to get more know-how about the world, and her crave for something extra ordinary leads her to meet some very wise people. She meets a mentor, who teaches her to overcome and control her fears, tell her things larger than life and deep hidden secrets, truths about the soul mates, spiritual beings, and soul of the universe. Additionally, she meets a witch with a vast and intensely deep wisdom who teaches her how to listen and see the beauty of the universe around her. The witch teaches Brida how to decipher the hidden truths and realities of the soul of universe. She teaches Brida about the sun and the moon and about how to dance with the visibly secret music of the universe, which only those could hear who pays attention and focus on it.
Read people’s lives and their loneliness
In this novel, the Irish girl Brida seems to be very fond of knowing about the universe, and something which is beyond the daily routine life, and common things. Her crave and keenness takes her to the people of wisdom, and she meets her mentor who lives in a forest, away from the world, people and worldly things. Her mentor also teaches her about the soul mate that every human being has on this earth. And she learns to maintain a balance between her desires and relationships. He teaches her about the heavenly and good things in the world, and how we could manage to see the positivity even in the worst and evil scenario. She learns to observe and read people’s lives and their loneliness, what loneliness do to them and how they become separate from the world.
A book of wisdom
In short, this is a book which is based on the journey of knowledge and learning of an Irish girl and it contain great lessons of enlightenment and understanding nature. It makes the readers ponder how deep and mysterious this universe could possibly be and how could a human master so many things which we usually consider beyond human reach. This is a book of wisdom, and deep spiritual practices.
One of my personal favorite
I personally believe that Brida is a metaphor for the spiritual journey which most of us undertake through our lives. It taught me a lot to in my own quest for truth which requires many sacrifices but if the quest is true, there’s light at the end of the tunnel. Brida is one of my personal favorite in the books of spiritual learning, hope and positivity.
